Smart ideas for fitting a wind blocker ?

Hi, all

Well, it's been a little while in the making, but the deed is done. With
thanks to Ron, Matt & Sarah, Eric, Kevin & Jon for your suggestions ...
Velcro rules.

Aarkim Plastics in Glenfield did a great job of cutting two pieces of
polycarbonate to size - one piece for between the rear bulkhead & the lower
portion of the cross-bar, the other to fill the hoop itself.

Both worked a treat. Used longer star plugs to attach the lower panel over
the carpet (much as per Ross's design) & slotted the hoop fill panel to
accept loops of black Velcro.

The main reason for going with Velcro was to enable flat storage of the
removable panel on the rear shelf when not in use. Upon reflection, I'm not
sure how realistic that is, given the ease with which the polycarbonate
scratches. I suspect that it may be an "install in May, remove in September
& store in the garage" accessory.

In future I may try to get hold of some of those rather cool chrome brackets
used at the top of the Brainstorm Products sport bar wind blocker - see
here http://www.miata.org/cmt/bsp/default.asp under Interior. (Eric, this
would enable your idea to be implemented rather elegantly).

And while some might decry the use of a windblocker on a convertible (it's
got no roof for crying out loud ...) I did find my therapeutic blast around
Clevedon today much more enjoyable for having it there. As did my bro from
Oz, who's used to Darwin heat ...

PS - spotted MIZONE when I was out in the tintop around Glendowie on
Saturday ... not sure that the black flames over red is my favourite paint
scheme, but at least it was clean, the top was down & you were smiling !
