Fading bumper

I am using " Pledge " extra care formula yellow can from Johnson ( for
everything ) , great for steel plastics , leather , dashboards, furniture
etc

although my '99 MX 5 looks brand new , ... I am using it for my Toyota
'94 too and it shines man !!!

Fading bumper

Hi Mike, we had exactly the same problem with our red 94. Unfortunately the
only real solution is to repaint them, which we had done.

Can't remember the detailed costs, but we had both bumpers, the boot lid and
the plastic rear panel around the number plate done, along with some stone
chips and I think the total bill was a shade under $700, that was with
everything stripped off the car and done properly.

I am sure that the car increased in value by at least the cost of the job as
it looks sensational once it is done

when the cars were made, they used a different type of
paint on the plastic bumpers than the metal panels, It
is more flexible than the paint on the metal bits, but
unfortunatly it doesnt seem to be holding up to the UV
after all these years and they fade. (Its a really
good way to tell if an mx has had a respray!) Theres
not much that can be done to get the colour back no
matter how much you cut back the paint, a polish that
has a high silicon content will look better, but it
wont last as long as a proper wax type polish.
Maybe time for a quick repaint???

No, no, paint it dark green like all of the best ones!!! It doesn't fade, either.

I'm going to Brisbane. Anyone taken one to Oz as a personal import? They seem to be significantly more expensive there! Like all the other cars, I guess, it's a Ford/GM stitch-up.
