Power Mirrors.

Post by Danny Boon » Wed Feb 16, 2005 11:08 pm

Hi there
I have a pair of power mirrors and a switch for them.
The mirrors have about 6 inches of cable and a 3 pin plug.
I want to install them in my car "93' but dont have the wiring loom for them.
I have the wiring diagram for them but I am useless at that type of thing.
Does anyone have a wiring loom from a 93 plus 1800 . They are fitted with
the loom apparently.
Also I have connectors in the back of each of the blanks in the dash to
right of steering wheel but none of them match.
The power mirror connector ( switch ) is a 7 pin connector and the ones in
the back of dash are 4 pin.
I live in Ch Ch can anyone help me.
Bruce from MX5 rentals has kindly offered to wire up but thought I would try
the loom first.
Regards Danny

Hi Danny

Not sure about MX5's but in my experience with other cars the "loom" is one
great big thing with the whole cars wiring. And usually the same for all
package options from basic to luxury in the production run (to save $$$$) but
there may be a small section of cable missing as part of the power mirror
option. If you get the auto elec' to give it a go, unless you are good mates,
try and get a quote! It's a simple enough job but the $$$ can soon add up.

I wish my passenger one was electric, always bloody moving. I made the mistake
of lubing it to prevent more rust when I re-built it after it rusted inside to
out and fell off. I've tightened the carp out of the spring but am too scared
to go anymore or something worth many $$$$ is bound to break.

The NA wiring looms changed in late 1993 when the 1800cc cars came out. Also
changed in the NB model in August 2000 when it had a facelift. The plugs
were changed on some switchs/connections but not all.Ross.
