I have an on-going problem with my hand brake.
If parked for more than a few days, the hand-brake won't fully release. I have
had the adjustment done several times, the calliper sliders lubed, the cable
checked for seizing, and the actuating lever lubed, and the problem persists
?!
Looking for the silver bullet on this one
Cheers

happen.I never did find out the cause.Lots of crc and time on my back.

Hi Howard
when your brakes stick on you need to disconnect the hand brake cables to establish
that its not the handbrake mechanism, it might be the caliper, one of them or
both, then try to turn the wheels to find which side if not both are binding
Have you checked the automatic adjusters in the rear calipers, this is the one
you let off manually when fitting a new set of brake pads, they have a habit
of seizing,on the inside of the rear calipers there is a nut, 14mm i think,
remove this, there is also a copper washer on it,inside the hole there is a
small allen screw so you will need a 6mm allen key if my memory serves me correct,
see if you can turn this screw anti-clockwise this will let off the rear brake
pads, its quite possible that you have a seized caliper a common problem on
early MX5's
good luck
