Rear Mud Flaps

Post by mx-5 » Fri Sep 22, 2000 10:28 am

Hi, could someone please tell me if $180 is a good price to pay for a second
hand set of rear mud flaps for a 1990 - I believe they have to be repainted as
they are blue & my car is red.

Also does anyone know if there is much difference in which fuel is run in the
car. I've been putting 96 in it, but due to current rising petrol prices I've
switched to 91 and found the car sluggish. Which should I be putting in it?

Many thanks in advance

Tj

You can put either in, but you may need to change the timing to match. I use
91 and have my timing set to 14 above TDC(top dead center).

NOTE Mazda recommend 10 degrees above TDC, but in most MX5's you will get
about 6 extra horse power by setting it to 14.

Sounds expensive, check the new price from Mazda. Scrap yards should have
them for half that price. In the States they are only US$50.

sounds a bit expensive - I just bought a brand new pair for a 98 and they
cost about the same.

Thanks to everyone who replied - I get the feeling I'm being taken for a ride
somewhat.

Dave, thank you for your offer - unfortunately I said to the guy I would take
them (have been waiting about 6 months for a rear set) but I will talk to him
about the price - if he is not willing to see his error, then I will come back
to you, if that's ok with you of course :)

Thank you also regarding petrol. I've got a decision to make I think :)

Regards
Tj
