I was just wondering if anyone knows the kw rating on the '90 MX5? My guess is around 105kw but that is a real guess.
Also, anyone know how to get the hoop style bars into roll bar quality. I like the hoops but they don't protect you much and the roll bars don't look nearly as nice. Please help if you know how I can get around this.

Thanks
Debra

Hi Debra,

This link will take you to a page on the web site that has all the info you
need with regard to vehicle statistics:

http://www.mx5club.org.nz/info/specs.sht

Your car (and mine) is rated at 116bhp which is a little under 90kw. I think
the conversion is about 1.0kw = 1.3bhp.

Regards,
Lindsay

Debra,

There are two ways round this.

1. Moss International in Britain have a twin hoop rollover bar. It looks a
bit more functional (i.e. not as cool) than the style bars. You're not going
to like the price though. $1,500 +shipping +GST. As far as I know this is
the only commercially available twin hoop rollbar.

2. Go to a roll bar company in New Zealand and get them to make you a MANZ
approved rollbar. Tell them you want a twin hoop design. I would imagine
that, it would set you back about 500-600 dollars. I'm not sure how good it
would look though.

Cheers

Chic (who likes his style bars and isn't planning on testing their rollover
worthiness)
