Sebring Supercharger Cost (Reply to Hydraulic lifter noise)

Post by Graham Aitken » Fri Jul 07, 2000 10:35 am

Dave,

I had a Sebring (Jackson Racing) supercharger fitted to my '98 Mk2 just
under a year ago. The all-up cost, fully-installed for me (I'm no mechanic)
was $7,822, GST included. Everything was done by Rotary Power in Glenfield -
contact Glenn Munro (09) 443-5762.
Glenn's brother is a customs agent, so Glenn can arrange everything
including the purchase from Moss Motors, Air Freight, Customs Clearance, as
well as the installation.

The cost ex. Moss Motors for the '93-compatible supercharger kit is US$300
cheaper than mine was, so you would save that. The total labour cost was
$450 + GST, so in the total scheme of things it's not an enormous part of
the all-up cost. If you were tempted to fit one yourself, Ray Smith is the
person to talk to.
The air freight was $189, so you wouldn't save a lot by trying to get it
over here by cheaper freight (i.e. Sea).
Let me know if you would like a total break-down of the cost.

And a final word. If you really want to do it, just go for it ! It really
transforms the car.

Regards,

Graham.
