Thanks very much Fletch and Howard for your help. I was given a set of lights
for Christmas last year and finally had them fitted last month. They weren't
the factory kind but I have had a lot of objection from other motorists as to
how bright they are. They are 50w and I was just wondering if they were too
powerful, but am relieved to see that there are more powerful ones available.
After a bit of a moment last week I figured out I could move them and have
pointed their direction from centre to more of a downwards position - problem
fixed. I'm not having much luck with lights at the moment. While the auto
electrician was putting them on, I cleaned what seemed like 3 inches of dirt
off the headlights and am now having the same problem with those - people
continuously think low beam is on high. There is such a lot of road rage out
there it's scary.

Tj,
Sounds like you might need to re-aim your headlights too...
At nighttime, park on a flat piece of ground with the car facing a wall
about 10 metres away.
Turn on the headlights, on high beam.
The bright-spot in the centre of the beams should be exactly straight in
line with the lights, and exactly at the level of the lights...
When you switch to low beam, the bright spot should drop down to about 10cm
below level, and jump to the left a simialr amount.
If this is not the case, get your trusty philips head screw-driver, and
adjust the three spring loaded adjusting screws that are around the
perimeter of the lights... There are cut-outs in the black plastic shroud
around the light, so you dont need to remove those.
There are two screws for left-right movement, and one for up-down. its
really easy to figure out how it works once you start playing with it...
Good-luck.
Fletch.
