Idle Problem....

Post by Edwin de Beun » Sun Jul 02, 2000 8:39 pm

Hi Fletch,

Thank you very much for your advise. However it doesn't look like I have
had any joy.

Finally found a few hours to try and sort out the idle problem.

I have taken the ISC? valve off, boiled it, froze it, but could not see any
movement in the plunger.

The plunger is not stuck, it will move when pushed with a screwdriver
against the force of the springs, but is certainly not moving with changes
in temperature.

I guess this means it is faulty? Can it be repaired or are we talking about
a new ISC valve?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you very much

Edwin

Edwin,

If the plunger isn't moving, its probably faulty...

But I wouldn't want you to go spending money just on my say-so. I'd hate to
put you wrong like that.

Do you have a 1.6? I've got a spare engine, and I could lend you my spare
valve for diagnostic purposes...
I'd want it back, but you can borrow it to see if it fixes the problem if
you want...

This will at least save you from spending money unnecessarily.

Idle Problem....

Hi Fletch,

Thank you very much for the offer of using your spare valve. That would be
much appreciated.

I've got a '91 Eunos with a 1.6.

The idle problem is coming and going, haven't had it for the last week or
so. Maybe even though it didn't move while boiling or freezing the valve,
it got cleared anyway???

I will try this for a little while and see what happens. May even go
through the boil and freeze option again.

However if I have no luck in the next couple of weeks or so I would most
definitely like to borrow your spare valve. Is that OK?

I'll e-mail you how I get on.

Thanks again

Edwin
