Exhausts and stuff

Post by Mike Donovan » Sun Dec 09, 2001 9:41 pm

Does anyone know of any dealers around Auckland/ Waikato who supply the
Jackson racing Air Inlet housing, and anyone supplying new header/exhaust
systems for the 1600 motor?
Also does anyone have any experience with using either of the above mods? Do
they offer any increase in performance?
Just a dream at the moment ...

Thanks
Mike

I ran a Jackson Cold Air Induction box on my 1800cc for about a year.
Personally I don't think they are worth the money to import one new from the
States. The CAI will cost over $NZ1100. Get a K&N replacement filter for the
standard airbox. Maybe re-route the air intake through the firewall. Set the
timimng to 12-14 degrees retard. Replace the stock exhaust( keeping the exhaust
header, which only drops 2-3 HP at max revs). 2" pipe is fine for a NA 1600cc.
Put in a resonator to replace the cat. Put a good free flow muffler on. Cost a
lot less than the JR stuff and still be pretty damn good.

depending on what articles you read and who you talk to the HKS super
mega flow filter is as good as the K & N , if not better , i don't know
if it's easier to fit under the lid , but it's certainly not as long ,
just rounder .

cheers

agree with the other changes clive suggests.

How about this one.

My driver side window does not leak if it starts to rain and the window
has been closed. But if the rain starts and the window is lowered and
then raised again it will leak; about 90% of the time.

any scientists out there to explain this one. and before you ask clive
it is all the way up.

cheers
