re springs

Thanks Fletch (and Matt) for the advice. FYI the car was bought privately 3 1/2 years
ago, so can't really progress the legal side of things (but Fletch I will bear you
in mind next time I need legal advice!!)

However can you let us know how you knew the springs were too short, and what size
they should be?? Went to a suspension specialist to find out prices etc for new
springs ($665 plus GST incl fitting - aaaaaarrgghh), got them to look at the car
and they said that springs were fine and that they should not have failed the warrant...

Have an appointment with the manager of the Testing Station today to discuss this
situation - they have passed the springs four times previously so I am utterly confused
as to where to go from here!

Joanne
without taking your springs out to measure them we would only be guessing, a quick
look under the car will give you a reasonable idea, the front springs should have
approx 6 coils and the rear springs approx 8 coils for stock springs, lowering springs
generally have an extra coil on them, if you have less than stock they probably have
been cut and will definitely need replacing, I think it will be unnecessary to buy
new stock springs there are plenty of people that have lowered their cars and will
have some laying around that are perfectly ok to use.
Keep us informed of the test station managers comments.
Ray :-)

Joanne,

It was the comment that the springs were unsecure that lead me to
conclude they were too short. I cant imagine any other way (apart from
being short) that they could be unsecure.

But now, that you've got conflicting advice from a specialist, that
does indeed make things confusing.

I think your action of seeking a meeting with the manager of the
testing station is the best way to clear things up.

Please let us know how it turns out.

Fletch.
