Wind screen damage

Post by Phil Dyer » Wed Nov 21, 2001 9:51 pm

Was following a truck and it kicked up a stone and hit the centre of my
windscreen leaving a 3mm horizontal crack right in the centre so it wont fail
in a WOF but is a bit annoying all the same. Can something so small be
repaired?
Phil

Wind screen damage

Hi Phil You should get it fixed as it will most likely spread over time.
Phone 0800 2 Fix It - they come to you.
I travel 800K a week and have had 3 cracks done in 6 months - My insurance co
seem more than happy to pay (They are a bit special) - But its only about $30
- $50 each time depending on how much goo they use. You can't see the crack
when its done

ASK A QUESTION GET MANY DIFFERENT ANSWERS.

A FEW THOUGHTS

I HAVE NEVER TURNED ON THE AIR CONDITIONING IN MY CAR. FIRSTLY IT NEVER
REALLY GETS HOT ENOUGH TO WORRY (TRY LIVING IN CENTRAL NSW FOR A WHILE)
, AND TWO IF IT DOES , TAKING OFF THE SOFT THINGY OVER YOUR HEAD SEEMS
TO COOL THINGS VERY QUICKLY.

HOW COULD MANUAL WINDOWS POSSIBLY BE MORE FUN THAN P/W. CANT GET MY HEAD
AROUND THAT ONE.

EVERY MX5 IVE SEEN IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT , FIND ONE YOU LIKE AND IF YOUR
HAPPY WITH THE PRICE , WHO CARES WHAT YOU PAY. YOU'LL KNOW IF YOUR BEING
RIPPED OFF JUST BY LOOKING AT AS MANY FOR SALE AS POSSIBLE. I DONT THINK
THERE'S ANY RIGHT OR WRONG WAY TO GO.

I HAVE A 91 WITH A LSD. IT IS STARTING TO WORRY ME CAUSE ITS TALKING TO
ME IN MOANS AND GROANS. ANY COMMON FAULTS WITH THEM , WHAT GOES WRONG ,
AND HOW DOES $650 + GST + 2 HOURS LABOUR SOUND TO THOSE WITH SOME
MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE . LABOUR AT AROUND $50 I THINK.

ANY THOUGHTS MORE THAN WELCOME.

Yes as others have said it is easily fixed. Get it fixed or it will spread
and then the whole thing will need to be replaced.

As I travel a lot of Kms each week I have the glass coverage option in my
insurance (about $1 extra a month) and they will fix or replace as many
screens as you can break!
