My CD has packed up so I intend to take it out. Does anyone know if Mazda NZ
has available the dash storage pocket that was advertised in the earlier Miata
magazines? Does anyone have one lying around or know of one that will fit,
from another vehicle?
I would also be interested in buying the OEM CD player if someone has one that
works.

Bound to be available... any car audio store will have access to them,
although expect it to be expensive. My Mazda Eunos 800 had a two unit high
stereo, and when I had a regular CD / radio installed and needed the 1 unit
pocket to go in the space below, the cost price from Mazda was about $70!

Carl,
Another option which I've considered, though not yet decided to go ahead
with, is to fit a new single disk CD player. (I have my doubts about buying
used CD's since they have a finite life and there is no way of estimating
how near the end of it they are.) I haven't even checked whether the Mazda
unit is still available, but it is likely to be hideously expensive if it
is. However in case you haven't come across the article, Bill Cason in the
US did a survey and located a Sony single disk CD unit that fits well with
the standard tape/radio, and produces a look very similar to original. The
details of the unit and how to fit it are on the web at
www.miata.net/garage/sony_cd.html
It is not available as one of the standard Sony product line in NZ, but
could be purchased from US discount suppliers for around US$120-150 (plus
freight and presumably GST as it came in).

Thanks Don,
They are difficult to get new now from Mazda.. I was wondering if a single
CD unit was available. All the car audio brochures I have seen only have CD/
Radio or radio/cassette with CD changer facilties. I will check out your
site.
