Does anyone know if its possible to re-calibrate the oil pressure and temperaure gauges?. I have been taking the needles on and off half a dozen times while I experiment with diffusion films behind my white faced gauges (without much joy) and the last time seems to have somehow buggered up the calibration as they both move twice as far as they used to. The oil pressure is on just under 6 at driving revs and around 2-3 at idle, whilst the temp needle is at half way on idle and just short of the "H" when driving. I'm reasonably sure my engine is actually about to kark it as the oil and water are okay, exhaust isn't smokey and I've done over 1000k's with the gauges in this state. I rang a chap at a speedo shop and all he could tell me is that I should have taken an ohms reading of the gauges before I started fiddling, and as I hadn't , there was not much he could do for me. The needles are in the same position as they used to be when the ignition is turned on so I'm pretty sure i!
ts just not a case of the needles stuck on in the wrong place. Any ideas??

Presumably they are calibrated by a small screw in the back, this will alter
the internal 'ohms' or resistance. This will provide a base calibration.
As the guy said, it would have been better to measure this first with a
resistance meter across the terminals. I'm afraid its going to be trial and
error, if you can get access to someon elses gauges and measure the
resistance of these, the readings should be somewhere near but bear in mind
that the gauges and senders on other peoples cars will be different!
Anyone else know a reliable method, anything in the enthusiasts manual?
