soft/hard top prices?

Post by Jocelyn Carr » Fri Jan 12, 2001 11:45 am

I live in Auckland and am planning to join the MX5 club and was
wondering if anyone could quote me price for a new soft top and hard top
for a 1991 roadster if I was a member. I am interested in purschasing a
second hand soft top but am finding them difficult to come by. I am
also wanting to repaint my car and am looking for a reputable place.
Any information would be appreciated regarding this.

Hello Deanna.
I have a hardtop, colour coded to my red MX5. It has also been sound
proofed/lined by a professional company recommended by Mazda. I would
like to sell it and, having spoken to a few people, consider $1600 a
fair price. It is as good as a new one. Kevin Stent.

soft/hard top prices?

I am in Auckland for the next 12 months and purchase a 1992 MX5 for the
year. I am a member of the MX5 Club of NSW (Australia) and have sent in an
application for local membership.

I had a new soft top fitted to my vehicle just prior to Christmas. The cost
depended on whether the waterstop is in good condition and whether
special
retaining clips had been fitted near to pivot area. Mine was OK for
both
and Al's Upholstery, on the North Shore (not far from the Mazda dealer),
charged approx $1200 to supply and fit a new top. Al did it in just
over
two hours while I waited by appointment. I have been pleased with the
result.

Al's is a home based business and he requires cash or cheque so don't
get
caught out if you only have plastic.

Good luck.

PS why do you want a hard top?

Thank you for the reply. I am interested in buying a hard top and
this sounds like a resonable price, but after reassessing my
finances I can't really afford one for another few months as I would
also have to repaint it silver. I'm still repaying xmas credit card
expenditure and front and back shocks. But thankyou again for the
reply and the indication for what price I should be expecting in the
future.
