Polishing Car - hire a buffer!

Post by zorruno » Mon Apr 23, 2001 12:29 pm

I hired a variable speed buffer/polisher yesterday from McIntee hire in East
Tamaki. It was $22 incl GST for over night. Man - does this make polishing
a lot easier!!! I have a sheepskin pad which I've used on the electric
drill, but will never bother with it again.

McIntee were great, the guy couldn't find one in stock, so rang 3 other
places for me until he realised that one of their staff was using it to
clean up a set of mag wheels out the back :)

They give you a foam pad which I used for polishing with a very light
polishing compound, and then a sheepskin cover for it that I used to finish
off the Meguiars carnuba wax. I haven't seen it properly yet as I finished
in the garage at 8pm (so not very good light) & left for work this morning
in the dark :(

It didn't seem to get rid of all the stone chips and paint scratches
though...

cheers
H.

on an aside note - here is how not to park an MR2 (this happened yesterday)
