The dealer just got back to me, and after he spoke to someone at Mazda it appears that both model pads are exactly the same shape, one is just scaled up slightly, which is why I thought it was the same as the pre94 pad. The other pad shown in their books is apparently for some other "very rare" type of mx5 brakes and as they have never sold any he couldn't explain what this "very rare" type is. Apparently the box they come in says that it is also for V6 mx5's which makes a lot of sense. I suppose its what you have to expect with pommie brake pads. I once ordered some pommie Samco hoses kit that was supposedly designed for my car and it took three attempts and six months and they still kept sending hoses that were miles too short. In the end the local distributor gave up and gave me twice as much hose as was necessary and I cut them to the correct lengths.

If you haven't got them yet, why not try Bendix Ultimates, these are the same
as Axxis Ultimates that the Yanks rave about. I've seen mixed opinions on the
EBC's, very dusty, fade etc.
