Hi everyone

We have just entered the world of topless motoring with a 1998 MK2 MX-5,
auto. We live in Invercargill and we have had the roof down a number of
times in the last coupla weeks! Great drive today, good job we put on
suncreen!

Have a technical problem, the car is great around town and on the open
road until you "put the foot down" to pass, when the revs get between
4000-6500 the car sort of misses, jerks for 2-3 seconds then the power
comes on and all is well. Had it back to the dealer and they have
plugged it into the computer, no faults, checked the engine all looked
OK.

Anyway they played with something to do with the kick-down and
overdrive, but problem is still there.

So anyway - just wondering if anyone might have an in idea about what
might be going on.

Thanks in advance

Tim

Check the fuel filter, could be restricting flow. Plugs or plug leads might be
breaking down.

I concur. Change the plug leads (and plugs while you are there if you
like). This is the same symptoms I had 3 months after getting my MX. I
thought there was a major fuel problem, but one set of NGK blue leads later
after 30 or so recommendations from the US net community... it ran 100%.

good luck
