rolled MX5s, crashing, safety etc (was Re: Strut Brace)

Post by zorruno » Tue Nov 19, 2002 6:55 pm

Does anyone have any direct or indirect knowledge about MX5's
rolling, and what made them do it?
It is usually the driver... ;)

But seriously, the only ones I know any info about are Ray's yellow
recently, a US guy called Mark Peugeot who rolled his 10AE model (with many
go fast bits) and more recently a rolled merlot one in the US (where I
believe the driver died)

I can't comment on what made any one of these accidents occur, but some
articles below give some crash stories first hand.

I used Mark's car pic in an article about convoy driving in Top Down mag a
while ago (search for it on the website) Mark P's comments to me were:
"Please note in the article that the incident I had was not during a club
run. I only drive that irresponsibly alone."

I have photos of the merlot, but can't find a link to the discussion on the
US email list. I believe they were on their way home from a miata event.
You might find the info on google or miata.net

If you are interested in miata MX5 safety in general, this page has some
stuff including photos & stories.
