Hi, just noticed my rear spoiler (factory fitted by the looks), was
a bit loose. So I gave it a good shake and the left and right mounts
detached! The only thing holding it in place was the centre strut
plastic stud and another dodgy corroded bolt.
Having removed it, the entire left and right metal fastening arrangements
have corroded into a pile of rust.
Has anyone else struck this problem and have any idea where to get
the replacement metal fittings for what is still a perfectly usable
fibreglass spoiler ?
The car's looking kinda naked at the moment, with the bolt holes
covered with insulation tape.

Glad you brought this one up, I was looking at mine the other day and
just noticed a bit of corrosion in this area. Hoping it's the brackets
too.

Ouch, I shall do the same today.Hi, just noticed my rear spoiler (factory fitted by the looks), was a

Probably better off than on!
Pros:
Excellent bootlid handle
Good for lashing luggage to
Adds about 1Kg of weight over rear wheels at normal speeds
(nothing to do with aerodynamic effect)
(Guessing) adds a small downthrust when you get above (say)
150kph
Cons:
Holds dirt where it's difficult to clean
Aged paint looks terrible
Makes you look like a boy racer
Shouts "Japanese Import"
Impedes airflow
Rear spoiler corrosion
I had exactly the same problem on my old car. The spoiler looked to have been factory fitted so I guess someone at mazda Japan was trying to save a few bob by using cheap fittings.
