Cory - with your 205cc injectors and an auto fuel pressure regulator (AFPR) you should be OK at 5psi. Take a look at http://www.greddyturbofaqs.com/ for general tech info.
I think Darryl @ bitchn does a decent price on this kit ?

personaly, I wouldn't waste your time with the starlet turbo, even though you
are only going to run low boost, it will generate enough heat to cause you
problems with detonation etc. They were to smal for the starlet for any
reasonable amount of boost. Try and get a cheap 323 turbo, will be more
efficient and reliable. You could always add a rising rate fuel pressure
regulator to get more fuel, not the most precise way of doing it but can
work.

there's a VJ20 turbo (GTX) in today's trade&exchange for $200. Doesn't bolt-on to anything in a mx5 though, downpipe, exh. manifold, intake pipe, intercooler piping all needs custom fabrication. Or something like a AVO or FM or BEGI kit. Numerous threads regarding this on miataforum.com .
If you do it properly, ie Link ECU, bigger injectors, mondo clutch, brakes, boost control, gauges, big exhaust, installation and tuning, upgraded alarm for the in$urance ... you'd be lucky to stay under $10k !! The very cheapest (~$2k) you could get away with is a Greddy kit (1.6 only) which saves you the time and ha$$le of cu$tom fabrication.
Cory - a Link piggyback should be OK for low boost setups, but won't be as good as a full MiataLink. There's also the "Bipes ACU" over at roadsterperformance.com .
No cheap options!

i think turbo condition is more of a question than price. You can get 323
trubos for only a couple of $100, but their condition is what will determine
price.
i guess you will need the 323 turbo manifold as well, but i couldn't tell you
myself if these bolt on either.
ECU modes to fuel it, intercooler etc.
TurnoLink would do the trick. But when a full MiataLink plug in system is
available it would be better to spend the extra $$$ and do it properly i
think.

Should have read this first. 323 turbos are ok, they just don't like being
pusehed over 15psi like most people like them to do. Keeping at under 10psi
and a good condition turbo will last a long time. My GTX 323 turbo lastred to
140K km's (indicated, probably more than that) and I thrashed that car for the
100,oookm I did in it including running boost to 12psi all the time I had it
and numerous trips to meremere etc. But being second hand, you don't know what
you are getting without realy pulling it apart.
If you can get a later model turbo of a later model car this is better
obviously.

the VJ20 is pretty small, but the turbine can be upgraded with a WRX one (?). I'm told it's a ball-bearing turbo, rebuildable unlike the Garrett units. Not sure on the accuracy of those latter statements though.
I do know that it will get you 5psi at 3000 rpm, 12 psi @ 4000 rpm. At which point you need to be sure that the road ahead is clear ... and straight

i can get you the link yes, don't do tuning etc though, but can put you onto
one of the best people for thisI can also do Microtech (but is not plug in so
Link is handier) or Haltech, but thats more $$$. I can help with intercooler,
cltch, injectors etc etc, and if my brother has the time, he can make pipework
and exhaust manifolds etc as he wants to get into making this sort of stuff,
eg non rotary manifolds (he works at RX-7 Heavan and does all their
fabrication work).
Jeff is right though, there is no real 'cheaper' way of doing this, more
power, means more $$ somewhere along the line
