Calling All Gurus
I bought an upper rear suspension brace off the '94 onwards model to fit on our 1990.
I thought it was a simple 'bolt on' job but ... the brace lines up with a slot inside each seatbelt mount, but the bolts that came with the brace are too big to fit through and unlike the seat belt mounts it doesn't have a threaded fitting to screw into.
Did Mazda change the sheet metal seatbelt tower mount after '93 to fit the brace?
After a quick look I'm thinking I need to drill out the slot and somehow get a nut underneath to put the brace bolts into.
Am I thinking correctly or have a I missed something simple and embarrassing myself in front of everyone? I am a reasonably technical person!!
Looking forward to a simple solution from someone.
thanks
Ian

Ian; On my brace I make, I supply a nut welded to a 30 mm square, 5 mm
thick steel plate plate plate which fits up inside the tower. You have to
remove the seatbelt to get it in. You will need to make something like this
to fit your one. There is a hole next to the seatbelt mounting bolt which
the brace mounting bolt will go through. You will need to trim your plastic
cover to fit around the brace.Ross; MX5 mart.
