Wahey!!
Wahey!!
I'm now the proud owner of a 'temporary' new zealand driving license, they
seem to give them away to anyone nowadays. Had to do the theory test as I
have a UK license and can only drive on it for a year, which would run out
on Monday...
Only got 35 out of 35 though, now I can forget it all and start driving like
a maniac again.

nah, I don't actually care about the football... amazing isn't it? Like you
say more of a petrol head, Grand Prix late Sunday night, and the rallying of
course getting ready for the New Zealand Rally later this year, I've
done some work for Propecia so I'm busy calling in the favours

Driving in the UK is an experience to say the least. I thought NZ drivers
were rude, inconsiderate, and dangerous. BUT... At least most of them know
what roundabouts and indicators are !!
Roundabouts are a case of hope for the best and pray no-one fails to give
way and smacks into the side of you.
I've been lucky in the MX-5 so far, but the company BMW has had both sides
replaced from people running give way signs and changing lanes without
looking.

Weeeelllll - I beg to differ. I have always found Kiwis to beDriving in the UK is an experience to say the least. I thought NZ

diffident (= useless) about roundabouts and much prefer the
confidence with which Brits get the job done.
Sounds like you had a bad run of luck.
Wahey!!
yeah have to agree there, apart from one roundabout. Swindon in the UK has
a roundabout that is made up of 6 small roundabouts. No-one has a clue at
the give way rule there, no indicators are ever used, and most people just
sit there, not knowing who has right of way... Swindon, being a very very
boring place, have featured this as the areas number 1 tourist attraction,
its name is 'the magic roundabout', oh dear...

Boring??
There isn't much you can't buy at the shops in Swindon!
No - I don't come from there but have been known to take the train from
Bristol, where I do come from and do my whole Christmas shopping in one
afternoon!
What about Spaghetti Junction in Birmingham, that would have to be the best!
I did (still sometimes agree) with the kiwi bad driving but, like
pedestrians, us Brits have to remember that there are so many more drivers /
people in UK - if you are not considerate, you will get driven off the road.
Here in NZ, most times (not in Auckland I guess, but still compartive with
London) there isn't anyone to give way too, so why bother! Opening a door
for the person behind you when entering a shop / pub, whatever... why
would you - probably no one there. Nothing like the UK.
I thought when coming here, well - they drive on the same side of the road
and speak the same language, what could be different???
When in Rome...

Perhaps it's a progressive thing? MR2, then to an MX5??
I used to fall in love with the maroon ones, usually see only white or
yellow ones here.
