It seems to say that overall safety is acceptable which presumably means
average. Passenger side safety is good.
I wouldn't bother with safety figures like that though. They're very
scientific and methodical. They compare apples to apples, but they only
take into account one aspect of safety. I think there's more to vehicle
safety than bent metalwork. There are other factors to consider. For
example I would consider myself less likely to be in an accident with
another vehicle when I'm in my MX5 (unless of course Fletch is behind me
). This is because I've always got the roof down, so visibility is
better. My control of the car is better (oneness of car and driver etc)
and I'm always alert and enjoying the drive. When I drive my friend's 4x4
(SUV) it's a more relaxed drive, I've got less control, It's heavier and
bigger. I can't see around me and my brain is not as alert because I'm
just cruising from A to B.

Jelybeans are light in comparison with most AMERICAN vehicles. That
means that if you hit another AMERICAN vehicle you will be
decelerated rather nastily and quite probably kark it.
Otherwise, Jellybeans are reasonably safe!
So... be happy, except when dicing with logging trucks near Kawerau,
or with Urban Attack Vehicles in Remuera.

An mx-5 is far more agile than the average suv or sedan, brakes well and its inate brilliance make it very safe in terms of accident avoidance.An average result on CRASH.COM aint 2 bad I reckon
