well I knew from experience it wasn't a stone, suspecting instead: wheel bearing, CV joint, u-joint, or pads... Glenn at RotaryPower thought it was a bearing - it sounded more like a concrete mixer by now !
In the end it was just a loose hub-nut (? the big 30mm one in the middle of the hub) which he found and tightened for me - pretty happy with the outcome
