Battery Replacement

Post by Little Blue » Tue Apr 05, 2016 9:44 pm

Hi,
New owner of a 92 and need to replace the battery. Been reading about putting in the correct battery and venting the boot. Contacted Mazda dealer and they offered a sealed Century battery. Can I assume a sealed battery does not have the fumes problem?

I believe "sealed" batteries don't vent gasses under normal situations, but they do have a safety valve to vent excess pressure if there is a fault. There should be hoses in the boot for venting the battery, but I'm not sure how common it is to get batteries you can attach a hose to.

I recently put in a new DIN55L into my NB. It is slightly larger than the original and my last one died after 11 years.
It has 2 bungs that pop out from each end and right angled elbows slip in and connect up to pvc hose which vents to underneath the car.
Battery cost $165 incl
