Race Series

Post by JaredH » Wed Mar 09, 2016 6:19 pm

I know there are a few on here who race your MX-5s, just wondering what series these are?
I'm quite keen to work towards racing of some form but not sure where to start, i know of 2k cup which is an option but my car won't qualify, and MX5 cup would be good except its mostly at Manfield.
Any suggestions? (preferably upper North Island)

There are four MX5s racing in the All Classic Japanese Series, two NA 1600s, a turbo 1600 and an NA1800. The Series is part of the Auckland Car Club programme and runs at Hampton Downs, Pukekohe and Taupo.
There is a meeting at Pukekohe this Sunday if you wanted to check it out.

Another option would be to start in Sprints, dual or single car. Several clubs run these including Pukekohe and Taupo.

Thanks Keith, looks like the All Classic Jap series could be the go for next season. I can't make it Sunday, but hopefully may catch some of the guys practising at the test day on Saturday

Yea, test days are mint, I'd be there if the car was together! Always good to chat with fellow mx5 racers.

AJCS is a race series I'm looking at with my 1.8, but to start with I'm keen on entering the SuperLap Series.

Its not a racing series per-se, rather a time attack series.

But I figured its as good a place as any for a decent shake down of the car and get a taste for competition without the risk of door-to-door while you're getting into it.

Single or dual car sprints are also a good way to start. Many clubs run them.
