Hello,
I am looking to purchase an imported roadster however it has had an engine swap completed in the past, although there are full service records the records do not specify much about the replacement engine except the KM's it had. I am aware that Mazda also produced a 1.6L engine with only 95HP rather than the 115HP it was given in Japan. What I want to know is if the NZ New MX-5's were given the 95HP 1.6L engine or the 115HP 1.6L engine?
Thanks,
eZ_Harry

the only difference is that the auto transmission cars had a lower compression and less HP. only real way to tell if you have an auto motor is possibly the throttle body to inlet manifold may have an adaptor on it as the TB are different. if the motor is from a nz registered car you may be able to query VTNZ and find out if the donor was an auto or not.
all the NA manuals had the higher HP motor.
all the NA manuals had the higher HP motor.
