Hardtop Adjustment

Post by Donovan » Tue Aug 11, 2015 2:17 pm

So what do you do when you can no longer adjust the hardtop latches because they are maxed out, but your hardtop still rattles around?

unscrew the silver caps on the rear tabs and adjust it there? Also you can get replacement rubbers for those (not the cheapest things in the world) that reduce the rattle/make the top sit snugly.

Yeah, the tabs are there, but the rattle is from the front of the hardtop, not the rear.

Tweaking the back ones may allow you to get better fitment at the front? Although you said rattle, not leak... blutac then?

Yeah, guess I could play around with the rear tabs, hope I can get the screws up, they are a little bit rusted over, as it has been a while since I changed anything back there.

Dunno, haven't had a change to fiddle around with it too much as yet.

I did adjust the front ones before this post to them being maxed out, the rattle has stopped for the moment, but now it leaks on the passenger side when it rains.

Hopefully get some time this weekend to pull it off and fiddle around with all the adjustments.

Yeah, I should do that, hardtop only comes off about 3 or 4 days of the year, if that.

get the Jass performance ones (http://shop.jassperformance.com/) if you do. Best ones available IMO. I tried the rennenmetal ones before but the fit wasn't as good (and they're uglier).

there is something on miata .net about later hardtops having different locating nipples in the front clamps .. not the not the whole clamp just the bit that locates into the windscreen header they are replacable but you need to remove the latch to see how
