Post by warrior » Thu Jul 16, 2015 8:27 pm

I want to get rid of the air con in my car to make it easier to put a intercooler in my sc car.

Is there anyone out there that has done this and is willing to give me a hand?

I am happy to throw a few beers your way.

Car is in auckland.

Where in Auckland are you? It's as simple as removing the compressor and following the lines and unbolting shit.

If it still blows cold air you have 2 choices. Assuming it's an original system the gas will be harmful foe the environment so when you open it all up it will release it. Or you could pay a company 300 bucks to drain it.

I didn't pay the 300 as my ac blew warm.

There's also a bolt you need to put in to replace the one from the ac bracket. Can provide you one as Kingdom order was 5.

when you remove the compressor bracket there is a bolt that goes in through the oil pump housing.(front to back) this bolt MUST be replaced with a shorter one. its a finer thread than normal. it clamps the oil pump to the block. obviously your gonna have a leak or bad oil pressure if you dont replace it.

Warrior, if you want to get rid of a couple of kilos you can also get rid of the unit under the dash and replace it with the plastic duct from the non AC version. I just happen to have one available if you want to go that way. Send me a PM if you want it.
