hard top q&a please

Hi there im new to this site just about to buy a 1990 mx5 and on the hunt for a hard to iv seen a few on tm at the moment.
My question is if i buy the hard top of trade me do i need to buy any other parts for it to fit on or can i use the existing mounts/brackets from the soft top?
Thanks any info would help.

Hey there, welcome.

Extra hardware is needed to fit the hard top. It's possible the car already has it if it once had a hard top.

The hard tops have an extra pair of latches behind each door. You need to fit striker plates for them to latch onto: Image

The hard top attaches at the rear with "frankenstein bolts", which you also need. Image

there arent many "bargains" and there isnt that many around...budget $900-1300 for a hardtop depending on condition and fittings (frankenstien bolts are $100 a pair)
