hard top q&a please

Hi there im new to this site just about to buy a 1990 mx5 and on the hunt for a hard to iv seen a few on tm at the moment.
My question is if i buy the hard top of trade me do i need to buy any other parts for it to fit on or can i use the existing mounts/brackets from the soft top?

Hey there, welcome.

Extra hardware is needed to fit the hard top. It's possible the car already has it if it once had a hard top.

The hard tops have an extra pair of latches behind each door. You need to fit striker plates for them to latch onto:

The hard top attaches at the rear with "frankenstein bolts", which you also need.

there arent many "bargains" and there isnt that many around...budget $900-1300 for a hardtop depending on condition and fittings (frankenstien bolts are $100 a pair)
