Iv expressed these feelings before and ima do it again.

He's going to ruin D1NZ, It will move away from the japanese style of drifting that involves skill to the American form of side ways drag racing, I know people like Fanga and Gaz havnt heled with there V8's but I think this will be the nail in the coffin.
He is also gonna make Mx5's cool, which is awesome, but its gonna be drifto cool, which is also fine, but god Im going to hate it if the RB type's start buying them.

and at the end of it all, he still probably wont win D1NZ

Call me old but i agree with you guys, this build will unfortunately attract even more flatpeakers to mx5's.
Bright side though there'll be more wrecked ones at pickapart for parts  but also i can see them getting nicked more. :(

Props to him for putting a convertible into professional drifting and doing a proper build rather than a half assed one.

Also i agree with evel, d1nz pro is becoming more about power and money(much like formula drift in the states). When was the last time you saw a low powered/budget build on the podium?

Damn. Knew I should've kept saving for an nsx... Ah well, hopefully when I'm done with my project, it won't be identified as a miata (that's the term they're all using right?). Also hopefully it won't get nicked...

The worst thing about it is it isnt limited to pro, Iv read about at least 2 guys building LS1/3 S14/15's for god dam pro am!! I say we need a street legal class like Japan, thats where you would find the actually skilled drivers, not the wealthy ones.

He's building this thing For FD..

I love the way FD is atm.
I think it's amazing, sure, its 'americanized'
but.
The way they have changed the technology in drifting is great.

Actually it's more like sustained not crashing. Unless things go wrong.

Flatpeakers and RB types have already purchased Roadsters for quite some time now. Although this movement was seen overseas first, mainly in American with the "stance" scene.

We can kind of tell the movement has happened with the prices of Roadsters, from what i have seen, prices haven't dropped for Roadsters for at least 3 to 5 years. This is of course the NA model, i have however seen the prices of NB drop quite abit with the influx of NC.

We'll most likely see price hikes alike the Silvia's and Skylines. Lets say about 10 years ago, you can probably pick up a pre facelift S14 for dirt cheap, but now, even sub average models are selling at just over $10k.

I think for Roadsters that we are already seeing a price hike with Roadsters with simple lowering and replica wheels being priced at over $6 to $7k.

I guess that could be a good thing to the rest of us since our cars are appreciating in value. But i have also noticed that the Roadster stance scene is dying down quite abit overseas with business as usual gaining popularity again, which is the pleasure of driving and autocross/track racing.

An affordable rear wheel drive convertible will always be popular. I would admit that my car and myself has been influenced by excess lowering but this doesn't automatically mean all people that follow this tread are munters  I guess its how you implement it that counts.

Stolen cars..... please not this.

And i do agree that modern drifting events doesn't seem to work anymore, its lost its touch of things, as everyone else has said, its all about money and power.

Too commercialized would be the word I would use to describe it.

I much prefer watching old Option videos than the events they display now.

speaking of stolen cars...
it is a timely reminder that GPS trackers are dirt cheap on ebay. you can set up a tk103b tracker with remote and a 2 degrees sim card for well under $100. it will text you an alert with gps location within 5 seconds of it happeneing. and you can disable the car via text if it does actually get away.(very useful if your car jacked)

Actually I quite liked Mad Mikes Redbull Drift Shifters thing, points based system off of sensors based on how close they got to things and the angle.

Live scoring made it a shitload of fun to watch too.

I was checking on tracker models the other day and DX have these for US$50 ... (free 24hr ship to nz).

Remote/GPS antenna/alarm functions and everything. You couldn't knit one for that price.
