3rd GRUVVY Car Cruise

Post by GRUVBB » Tue Jul 08, 2014 10:54 pm

Its time for another cruise. As this is the third one I have instigated I have set the date for Sunday 10th August. This one will not be as long as the last one but plenty of winding roads well suited to the respective owners of the MX5 fraternity. The plan is to cruise HIGHWAY 22. Meeting place will be BP BOMBAY in the morning at about 10.00am Travel to Pokeno. Head in through Tuakau. Over the Waikato bridge and turn left onto 22.Follow 22 down to Heatherington Rd and then head east towards Huntly. Turn left af Huntly Power Station and head up to Rangariri. Back over the Waikato and turn leff towards Hampton Downs.
I will add 2 options from this point. The shorter route is to turn right at Island Block Rd where the old Meremere Power Station building is and head towards The Red Fox Tavern. Then hook back through either Hunua Gorge or back towards BP BOMBAY via Paparata Rd.
The longer route is to turn right at Te Kauwhata and head towards Miranda and then return via the Kaiaua Clevedon Coast Rd..
I will document these routes in a future post.
Please indicate who wants to attend and how long a drive you are happy to participate in.

I'm keen to tag along again, will have better brakes this time.. Long or short doesn't bother me, I suppose preference to the long one as I've driven it many times and its always a nice drive.

Mind if I advertise on FB once we start to confirm a few things? People need to get their shit together and make a decent turn out.

I will be coming from out West so keen to have an initial meet in the city about 45 mins prior to Bombay meet. Perhaps meet somewhere close to the motorway and then have a snake cruise down the Southern Motorway. Anyone keen on this and any sensable suggestions of a meeting point???

Weather forecast is looking favourable AGAIN. 8) Looks like it will be another roof down day. All the better for taking in the awesome rural scenery. Dont forget to bring a camera along..... I have been speaking to my neighbour sboug this road. He has been cruising it for a few years and highly recomends it as I do also. Its going to be a sweet run so keep the day free and get chores done on saturday. After all if you dont make it then ONLY YOU will the one missong out on the fun and company..... SEE YA THERE!!!!

More like half a day tank from Ak. Have not measured it buf would think its about 150 km to 200 km.

I have a spare seat going for this trip so if anyone keen on a passenger seat and does not mind driving roof down with the sounds on post your interest. First in first placed
