Upholsterer in Auckland

Post by Ken.McNoe » Mon Apr 28, 2014 11:57 am

Morning all - second question. One of my seats is worn so I'm wanting to get them both recovered (the car is a bit of a toy!) - does anyone know any good upholsterers they can recommend? I've had a couple of very different quotes. I'm wanting to go for fabric with the vinyl back (similar to the original but better fabric) I've had leather seats in a car before and they get way to hot! Thanks all. Cheers Ken

Hi,

Just wondering as I'm new here and looking to re-do leather tan seats, how much roughly would you pay?

I can't give you a price, but I spoke to an upholsterer about recovering MX5 seats in general about a year ago, and his answer was "seriously expensive". He said that, as seats go, MX5s are difficult to do. Whether he was just not experienced enough (which I doubt as he has done some very nice work for me on other jobs), or didn't want the job, I don't know.
