Angreal - why did you fit all the vinyl 'crooked as can be' anyway - its easy to do it all straight & even, I'm watching 2low2c now he's making it look easy, lots of cool 3M spatula's & stuff, so easy lol

My fingers aren't even dirty, had JP Tires do an alignment too, lucky coz everything was all up the piss again, might also see if we can do a window banner.

Whats the weather doing, lets have a look now, decide on roof - no roof or baby roof options.. :D

Met Service for Saturday 15th Feb says 'Mainly fine, chance morning shower in west. Light winds.' which is awesome & means I won't bother w/a roof, maybe the baby one.

I plan a full topless day. Well because it was raining when I put my stickers on last weekend and I took a whopping 3 minutes to put them on ;-)

I'm going for the unique look as I didn't bother doing anything else :-P

I thrashed my Roadster around Hampton Downs, was fucking awesome :D

It was my first ever trackday, I made a few nub moves like shifting from 2nd to 5th but I had a blast duking it out with a BRZ

Agreed. Looks like you drove smoothly with nice lines too, well to my untrained eye anyway.

Changed the ignition timing from the std 10 deg to 14. Makes a noticeable difference, well worthwhile.

Had a private trackday yesterday. 10 cars at Taupo track 3, 4 pulled out in the first hour. I got in over 150km's on track. Even tried my hand at being DK and had a bit of success. Split a hose and pissed oil all over my manifold. Will probably look at a looped catch can setup to replace all the factory crap

Tried out dat new fandangled plasti-derp stuff on my hardtop latches & striker-plates yesterday:

left one came out ok:

right one dried around the edges a more matte texture/appearance - haven't seen this specific kind of fail anywhere on the interperv, hmm:

looks great :)
did you wipe them down with meths first and give it time to dry off? that textured appearance on the 2nd once could possibly be residue on the latch underneath the plastidip.

gave em a clean with detergent & water then wiped with isopropyl alcohol before spraying.

did it in less than ideal conditions tho - started early evening and was completely dark & getting windy by the time I did the last coat...coulda even been moisture/dew :?

Also for anyone in Christchurch looking for plasti-dip there's an outfit in burnside called Homershams. They sell all sorts of industrial equipment & instruments, but they also have the full range of plasti-dip stuff - were really friendly to deal with and had plenty of stock

My latches are black too. It happens when you lay on the coats too thick, with too few. You do lots of medium thickness coats (Thicker than normal paint). As it self levels, if that was normal paint you would've had a right mess

Got my car back from the painters with the newly painted front lip and sideskirts that they put on. Paint looks great and liking how it looks from a distance at least:

but they did a pretty avg job of fitting the lip, sideskirts, and rear mudguards, might make a thread about it to get others opinions as im pretty unhappy with it!

Why couldn't you fit them yourself?

i considered that, but since they needed painting and I imagined (foolishly perhaps?) they'd bolt straight on being OEM parts, that it wouldn't add much to the cost and would save me a lot of hassle...

yeah, he mis-spelt underpowered

Its actually the title of a book from 1962 and for those younger members, books are things made from the wood pulp of trees that we used to use before I-pads

I figured that a book title would look pretty good, so for me it came down to a choice between

- Something wicked this way comes
- Twilight new moon
- Everybody poops
- A Geographic Encyclopedia of India Handicrafts

I couldn't make my mind up, so I just went with the first on the list.....

Yeah coolant swap went well aside from not realising that 6l of water would come out when i removed the lower radiator hose

It almost didnt make it to the tarseal because of how low it is at the moment, going to book it in to get raised, aligned and certed at platinum wheels some time in the next few weeks :D
