* Competition use (clubsport, racing)?
Things to consider:
Interior impact: Roll protection doesn't require LVV certification if it's entirely behind the rearmost seating position. This means that the main hoop must lie behind a vertical plane behind the seat headrest with the seats all the way back.
Most track day organisers will require sturdy roll protection -- a cosmetic style bar won't be allowed. Don from Autoway Services makes a reasonably priced bolt-in bar which attaches to the chassis behind the seats with reinforcing plates.
For motorsport use, you'll need a homologated safety structure. This means the design has to be approved by MSNZ, they issue it a homologation code and your car needs to have a logbook. In order to get homologated it will need welded in reinforcing plates of sufficient size. Talk to a professional rollcage fabricator about this.
