NA6 Gearbox Drain Plug
I want to replace my drain bung at bottom of gearbox as mine is rounded and does not fit socket properly. Are they a standard size so able to grab a cheaper secondhand one from a wrecker off another Mazda. Or do i need to get a certain size and purchase new. I dont have a landline to enable me to ring around pricing. Obviously i want to get it so once oil can is drained it can be replaced straight away. Not much room down below so want to get out quick. Thanks

Just grab another either new [if possible off the shelf] or any good 2nd hand one from an MX5 is the only way to be sure but I wouldn't be surprised if most mazda bungs of different models will fit...someone else on the forum might know?

I've used these for looking up OE part numbers. While they are for the US models, most should be applicable.

The OE part number for a 1990 is 0810-17-122 "Plug, magnet". Sadly doesn't give any clues about the thread etc.

Gearbox bung
Had a job in the city today so was able to call into John Andrew Mazda. Ordered a genuine bung for $15 and the washer is $6. Cheaper than trying to drive around SAVING money..... You gotta spend money to save money. Lucky I did not wreck the fill bung. I could see that it did not fully locate into housing prior to removal.
