I thoroughly endorse Carbon Miata and recommend them to all miata owners who want their pride and joys to look a little different.

heres another site I have been browsing, I haven't dealt with them at all, but they are Australian so that would keep shipping costs down.

If you are looking for parts that are not MX5 specific, eg. steering wheels, gauges etc, check out Merlin Motorsport http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/
Not only are their prices good, I just bought a good quality suede rimmed steering wheel for £89 (NZ$165) but delivery is excellent (less that a week from placement of order) and freight costs are reasonable (£16 for a rev counter, 2 gauges and nomex balaclava).

It was for the Lola, a 255mm dia from Racetech.
For the MX5 I found that 330mm was pretty good (had an OMP that I sold to Harlan). Merlin have a 330mm from Racetech at £121.50 excluding shipping but there isn't a picture yet so I'm not sure whether the centre is large enough to suit the MX5 boss ( is suspecte it's undrilled).
Merlin have a 330mm Momo at £130.49 excluding shipping. If you are looking for something smaller they have a 290mm Momo (undrilled) at the same price.

Has anybody dealt with RSpeed?
Looking at getting a few things from them but don't know how reliable they are/ what the shipping times are like.

Thanks Chris! Saves so much research time.

Although its not directly MX5centric, up here in Whangarei I had exceptional service from "Checkered Flag Automotive" on 13 Clark road, Kamo.... so they are a good option to consider if you need some mechanical work or WOF work done.

The reason I am posting this here is because in the long term I plan on putting in a V6 or a V8 and we spent over half an hour looking at options (it is a daily driver after all) and covering what would be involved and I will definitely be getting it done through them when funds allow.

Its good to find good service in a sea of 'not terribly amazing' workshops.

When you come to it, happy to chat to you around the perils of the V8 conversion, and what the potential costs are depending on the type of engine you want to run with. Can't help you with the V6 stuff though.

Thank you donovan, I appreciate the offer and I will definitely take the opportunity to pick your brains. I know that lexus have V8 conversion kits but had just recently also entertained the idea of a V6 due to space constraints.

do you still have air con and so forth on your V8? did you have to leave anything out due to available space?

there is also a vendor list in the garage section FYI...
garage.php?mode=view_shop_business

useful if people provide reviews there (but this thread interesting too thanks)

I'm not running Air-con, but my car is a 1990 NZ new, so no air con in it anyway, or power steer, or elecy windows. There is room for the air con pump, believe the yanks still have air-con in their conversions.

The Lexus V8 is the cheap way to go, have had a look at a couple of Lexus conversions.

Not sure what space constraints you would get an advantage with the v6 over the v8, as they are most likely both just as wide as each other, just the V6 would be shorter, but then again the Lexus v8 is just two 4 cylinder 2.0l motors stuck together, so the length isn't that much different than the standard motor.

Weight is more the problem, you need to get an all alloy block.

Give me a yell the next time you are in the big smoke, can have a chat about it all.

Also, they sound godly. I'd love one but I always get talked out of it by smarter people. My ideal combo would be my blue NA as 1.6 Turbo, and have a black NA with KL-ZE for natrually aspirated powah

Can we sticky this? I use it sometimes as I'm not always in the know with MX5 sites, years of VW's and German sites do that to you.
