Auto windows up/down (was Re: Remote central locking)

Post by zorruno » Sat Jan 24, 2004 5:12 pm

Both my windows are one touch up and down. I installed a Directed
Electronics (DEI) window module product, it does one touch up/down for two
windows and a few other functions like auto windup when alarm set, and
'vent' which lowers windows a few cm with another input or aux button on the
remote.

Vent is not that useful, but the auto up when the alarm is set is. You
don't have to worry about winding up the windows before you switch the
ignition off. I also recabled from the ignition to the windows (via the
module) in a larger gauge cable do get better speed out of the windows.

I have seen auto closing windows set up just with a latching relay to the
window, and a self resetting overcurrent device in series to unlatch the
relay. A bit of frigging around to do this though - the module was easier,
and has the ability to change current settings to control the window force.

cheers

Hi zorruno

Where did you get the module from? Much wiring required?
