Problem with the 1.8 Injector? Valve stem seal?

Post by Mikkels » Sun Nov 30, 2003 9:53 am

Hi Guys

I have a problem with the 1.8 in my 1990. If I leave the car for a
length of time 5 days or so it starts up on three with clouds of smoke -
does not smell like oil. Even in the morning it starts a bit rough but
with quite a bit of smoke. Clears on to four after a little bit. I'm
wondering if I have an injector problem? If one injector is leaking or
dripping would that cause this type of symptom? Secondly who in
Hamilton should look at it?

Update on the steamy interior - definitely the heater as When I lifted
the mat to clean the car tha driver's side carpet was soaked in coolant.
Bummer! I will bypass the heater until I have time to remove the dash
and get the beast repaired.
