Speeding in Southland

Post by Bryce Pearce » Wed Nov 26, 2003 8:20 pm

I see that the police have announced they recently carried out a 'speeding'
crackdown in Southland. They say about 900 infringement notices were handed
out with the top speed being 156k's. I would love to find out what the
'average' speed (and the 'posted limit' where ticketed) of those irresponsible
motorists was. Does anyone out there know where that kind of information can
be found?

Hi Gretchen,

I hope you didn't get unlucky and end up paying some additional tax.

I would have thought that was the kind of general information that could be
requested from Police under the Official Information Act. Write a letter to
your local Police Commander in the first instance. I will be fascinated by how
you get on.

I would not bother with LTSA, they never answer letters, even about things
they are supposed to manage!

You'll find that the vast majority of tickets are between 111 and 120 km/h.
Just think of all the lives they saved! (and the revenue)
