1.8 Power Improvement?

I am the new owner of a'94 1.8 and am curious about increasing the power in some small to moderate way. Not really interested in huge increases but a little more hp would be nice. Can anyone advise the most obvious, not too expensive method that would give some increase without major alterations? Am in the US next month so could purchase something there if cheaper and compatible? Greatly appreciate your comments.

A couple of cheap and easy improvements
advance timing to 14 deg
replace box filter with a good cone filter

You can fabricate a cold air system using the standard airbox. Add an extra
inlet to it and duct cold air from the bulkhead near the wiper motor and/or
from the rad intake.

A cone filter, aftermarket exhaust headers, sports
muffler and slightly larger exhaust piping makes for
some great noises! And a few more horsies.

A MiataLink computer would also be worthwhile if
you're looking at spending that many greenbacks.

Cheap guy that I am, bought most of tthis stuff used.

PS - anyone interested in a used Mazdaspeed exhaust?
Fits 89-98 models. Too quiet with the turbo setup.

$250 takes it?

A very good intake system for the 1.8 is the
"Monsterflow" system from
www.goodwinracing.com
it comes with a very good cold air box system as well.
pick one up while in the states.
