Unos Aerial and hard top
Hi,
I hope these questions aren't too dumb, but I have recently puchased a 1990
Unos Roadster and would like to know
1. Can a retractable aerial be installed in these?
2. Can a hard top be fitted, it is a soft top?
Thanks
Penny

Hi Tracey & Penny,
No question is a dumb question and this forum is here to help you.
Yes you can fit a retractable aerial but unfortunately not all cars are fitted
with the wiring loom which means you would have to run power/wires etc from
the front of the car if yours does not have he loom already there. Costs vary
depending on availability. The aerial needs to be a short body one to fit so
really needs to be a factory original as not many after market available.
As for the hard top, it does not matter whether it is a 1989 or 2003 model,
the hard tops fit. You will need the mounting lugs that go in the chrome
strips just in front of the boot. Factory original hard tops are lined and
have heated rear windows where as after market are unlined and no heated rear
window. Cost around $1500 + depending on condition.
Good luck.

The problem with the aerial is the lack of room under the guard for the
aerial. A standard one won't fit . I had a cheap one (from the Warehouse)
for a while but had to modify it to fit. It also wouldn't retract fully. I
then bought a second hand genuine electric one (in very good condition) and
fitted that. The wiring was already in my car for it. I paid $150.00 for it
from memory. The disadvantage is that they are quite short, so performance
does suffer if you drive far from the transmitters.

I think you'll find that early factory hard tops dont have the demister on the
window (after-all, only mid-91 cars onwards have the wiring for one).
Not sure if the lining came in midway through production or has always been
there?

What lining Fletch? My 1989 Eunos has a hardtop fitted and it's noisy 'cos
there is no lining. Was there an option of a lined hardtop...if that's what
this thread is all about?

The hardtop lining appeared at the same time as the heated rear window mid to
late 91.
