Hi All,
Can anyone advise me where I can obtain a wind Blocker - fits behind seats
when hood down and affords some protection from wind overflow. Preferably in
Auckland area. If someone has a pattern or knows who can make one would help.
Had a great day out with Northern group yesterday - close to 50 cars.

I had one built by a local glazier. It was made out of clear acrylic. Check
out my web album (under 'windblocker') for photos.

I'd be interested to know too - was going to get one to fit on to the style
bar, but now I've given that idea up I'd love to find a stand-alone one.

Ours stands alone. It attaches with aluminium brackets that are fitted using
existing fittings on the car so no new holes and no drilling required.

I made one out of polycarbonate which was pretty damn easy, cheap and it
works very well.
I have photos I can flick through to anyone who needs them.
Send me an email ian.chapman@ngc.co.nz and I'll send them through.

Grant,
Pics are great... can you give some details of who made it for you?
(What is "local" to you?) Can you store it (in car) when not in use?
Also interested in your pics of spare tire relocatioin. Can you give
more details of how you did this? EG, how is threaded securing post
attached?

Local is in Blenheim.
When not in use, it will fit in the boot or on the deck behind the seats. The
fold out pieces on the ends didn't prove to be of any benefit, so I wouldn't
have those fitted again.
The cost was about $250.00 including the brackets. It's very effective,
especially with the windows up. You can raise the roof with it in place as
well, although you can't then reach the deck area behind the seats for
storage.
The threaded rod used to hold the spare under the boot floor fits in a hole
already in the floor. I used a large square galvanised washer to relieve the
stress on the boot floor at this point. A nut on either side of the floor
(with lock washer) has worked well. The spare is a very close fit, but as it's
quite light, it's not too difficult to get it in and out as necessary. You
still have the problem of what to do with the full size flat tyre and wheel
though!
As my car has a non standard exhaust with a smaller rear muffler, I only had
to have the exhaust pipe re-routed to clear the way for the spare. The
original Mazda muffler would be too big to do this so would need to be
replaced with a smaller unit. My system with Genie headers, no cat convertor
and the small muffler is noisier than the factory setup, but no problem with
the local testing station at warrant time. I've known some of the people there
for more than 30 years and they have no problems with exhausts such as mine,
even with the new 'guidlines'.
