Police again

Post by lou Girardin » Thu May 15, 2003 4:37 pm

It's very illuminating to follow the reports of the motorcycle chase that
killed 2 people near Whangarei.
Initially the Police said they chased him for some offence, pulled out of the
chase long before and he went on to hit a car head on on the wrong side of the
road.
Now as more independent info comes out, it appears they chased him because he
was speeding at Waipu. They didn't stop the chase, a witness heard the bike
and Police go past his house together 200 metres from the accident scene. It
wasn't a head on, he hit the Honda in the drivers door. In other words, she
pulled out in front of him. Are these the impartial and objective defenders of
law and order that we pay taxes for. Or they just covering their own arses?
2 people dead because of a speeding offence on one of the best stretches of
road in the North.
I think I'd rather have the jack-booted wannabees back.

Be careful about making assumptions. Being hit in the drivers door
doesn't necessarily mean the car pulled out. One option is the bike
went straght ahead on a left hand bend and hit the drivers door of the
car coming the other way. You probably attended a few of those 'in your
day'. More importantly be very careful about concluding anything from
a media report - if they don't get the facts they want (or don't
understand what they get) they fill in the gaps to what sounds good and
will sell.

I long for the day this group gets back to technical issues. Does
anyone out there know about MX5's?

Have to agree with you Ian - I'm kinda getting a wee bit tired of the moaning
going on with this topic. If you wanna speed, go to it. If you wanna modify your
car, do it. Ultimately both are your choice & you have to put up with the hassle
& consequences on both topics. ( fines & WOF hassles)

No matter what tactics the Cops use to nab the speeders & baddies, moaning about
it won't help. For crying out loud, be thankful the majority of Cops are still
using the unnofficial 10kph above rule, otherwise we'd all be walking by now.

That occurred to me, but close examination of the photo showed intrusion
through the door at right angles straight into the side of the dash.
As for 'moaning' about the issue, thats fine. Lets all roll over and take it
like good little proles. It worked for the German Jews in 1933.
