Get around the noise test!!!!

Post by SLYDIT » Tue May 13, 2003 4:16 pm

We as car enthuiasts are sitting atop a slippery slope
and the ltsa and the Plodice are just about to push
aus down.We should all have made submissions to these
changes by now if you havent then do so!!! Even if you
dont have a loud exhaust or modified one then please
think of your fellow members who do we need to stick
together as a group or our day to day enjoyment will
be effected.
Accused of murder... Proof and evidence needed
Accused of being drunk behind the wheel... Proof
needed
Accused of speeding by a camera...proof needed
Accused of having a loud exhaust no proof needed
see the flaw in this???If a cop says your exhaust is
too loud then ask him to PROOVE it by measuring on the
spot, and referencing that measurement to the list of
standard vehicle decibels that he should have in his
car if he wants to PROOVE it.. No proof no ticket.

ANYWAY>>>>>
Theres a product actively marketed in australia that
is in effect a valve that you put in your exhaust
system, its controlled by vaccum solenoid through a
little electronic gizmo. Basically it keeps the valve
closed at low loads and so when Noise tested it
effectivly keeps the noise way down, but when loaded
up it opens and allows the engine to breath as if it
were a straight piece of pipe. sounds like just the
ticket,(Or lack of!;) for now if you want to pass your
warrant without taking off your exhaust simply make up
a piece if sheet steel that will sandwich in between
one of your exhaust flanges, that has only a 20mm hole
in it for the exhaust to breath through. get your
warrant then take the restrictor plate out. Easy.

A motorcycle exhaust manufacturer in ChCh makes end cans with a flap valve
that can be adjusted to quieten the system. Very simple and could be applied
to any exhaust.
