Some rather horrendous results of mx5 crashes, and crash testing video's if you can find the ap to use that opens them.

I feel a little traumatised!

If you can read le francais, you will note that most people walked away from
these prangs. You will also note that in all of them the passenger cockpit
remained pretty much intact, which is a great help in ensuring that you step
out unscathed. The only bit which worries me is the way the windscreen
pillars folded in a couple of cases, you would not want to meet that with
your head going the other way!

Ooops' I hit send before I meant to. The other comment I was going to make
was that I have seen a few cars at Ross Campbell's place which have been in
some horrendous bingles. In most cases you could still open the doors and
sit in the seats. This may be how Ross buys them to get useful bits off
them, but it certainly gave me the feeling that the MX5 is a reasonably safe
vehicle if you do happen to have a prang.

It is my avowed intention never to find out the hard way.

Regards

Eric

I found Ross's garage somewhat depressing. So many bad days for so many
people!

I see there were no fatalities, but how someone made out of the crash into the amco guardrail alive beats me

But I agree, they seem tough little cars, I wonder what the Jeep cheroke looks like!

If it were me, the second stop would be the Lotto shop, immediately after
the Drycleaners! I have seen quite a few in my time, but I agree, how anyone
ever got out of that with their head still on their shoulders defies all
logic!

I'd imagine the Jeep Cherokee was barely dented. Remember what happened
when a Jeep met Possum's Subaru

Mine survived a pretty substantial accident... it began at 100k on SH1... car
went through 180 deg and most of the impact was absorbed on the right rear
quarter, then right front... Although the insurance company wanted to write it
off I persuaded them not to and the repair restored it. On the chassis machine
it needed no adjustment. The entire rear suspension was smashed though, as was
the right front. Doors still opened. They're a pretty tough car.

yep - they are strong alright.
my first mx5 and i hit an armco front on while on sliding sideways across a
gravel road bridge... we were doing about 80kmh.

all it needed was a repainted nose and 2x new indicators!
