Catalytic 'Gone'verter

Post by Graeme H » Wed Dec 01, 2004 2:37 pm

Paid a visit to Al's mufflers in Wairau Park today, and paid $105 to have my cat removed. they cut it out like a bad tooth and replaced it with a neat little cherry bomb resonator pipe.
Results:
Sounds absolutely no different to how it did before.
Feels much better...no longer choked and wheezy, especially at 5000+ revs. Probably no difference in output, but the butt-dynometer says it's added at least 10 HP :0)

Of course, come the day of reckoning when I have to put another cat back on there...I'll cross that bridge later

I did the same Graeme and with the 30 mill lowered springs {dolby sport}
I'm damn sure the car is quicker point to point over the rimutakas and
other local race tracks [IMAGE] uh local roads.

As you say if the gestapo decrees, and us sheeple abide, a high
performance cat will have to be inserted in the future.

What did you think of Al's? He was very helpful when I was looking at making
my own style bar.

Oh I forgot to say, I asked the guy at the testing station about this and he
said yes the LTSA are looking into it. But it will have to be from a specific
date, and initially hard to enforce. But I must admit I'd be keen to have this
law in as it would quieten down the little f***er down the road in his WRX.
Although a local builder 'helped' him to understand pulling wheelies in our
street is bad for his health. I think the benefits will outweigh the suck
factor.

And soon no smoking in night clubs, s**t hot!

Didn't have much to do with anyone while i was there, although the young lady who deals with the phone and stuff was very pleasant and asked how I'd heard of them (Jeff Wong pointed me in their direction).

The fella doing the work seemed to know what he was doing. Good price too, I think.
