Japanese MX5 auction

Yes- we saw those. That teal blue car was amazing - they have so much
disposable income to spend on customising their car.
Amazing there are 1990 cars still for sale at $2-3000 with 30, 40, 50000km
only on them, while others had over 140,000km. Our previous visitor said
these are real mileages, her mother still had a 1 owner 1994 Primera with
24000km on it, but its trade in value was $500. Her brother sold his
Primera, same age but high kms for $75 for parts.

Any car with mileage that low after all that time would surely be best
avoided...it must have spent all its time driving round Jap cities.. short
trips never getting warm.. a recipe for disaster.

I dont know about never getting warm, but spending their lives sitting idling
and breathing in smog is not my idea of automotive heaven. Sounds a bit like
the Northern Motorway really!

(You can't import one that early now though)

I thought you could import them, just not register them.

So if you have an old high mileage car and want some parts cheep, this
could be the way to go.

By the time you buy the car, pay for the shipping from Japan its not that
cheap being an unregistable car unless there is something extra special about
it. Pick up a cheeap second hand one here or go to someone like Ross at
MX5mart.
