Soft top replacement-tan IS BETTER

Tim: TO THE CONTRARY!

I was simply referring to the colour I personally believe would look
best on a white car. Tan-white combination IS nice but I saw a white MX5
in the USA with a blue top and I personally thought it looked sharp.

Other than that I wouldn't have ANY other colour than my tan top. It
looks REAL sharp! In fact it makes the whole car look newer while at the
same time more classic.

Grant: Want to add value of your car? Go tan man! You WILL NOT regret
it!

Bill

Soft top replacement-tan IS BETTER

Having owned both series 1 and series 2 cars, and while the glass window has
its advantages, it also has its disadvantages i.e smaller visibility area,
the window is smaller than the original. On those stinking hot days( you
know the 1 day a year when it is fine) when the sun is beating down on you
it is great to be able leave the roof up and to unzip the rear window which
gives a great flow of air to keep you cool - cant do that with a glass
window. Very much a personal choice and cost would come into it as well.
I have seen silver top on white which looks good !!

Sorry Grant, have to agree with Bill on this one, tan looks great. Was
temptedto bid on that black top thats on "trademe" at the moment but will
pass and get the tan. This guy in Auck that a few of you are recommending -
do we know if he does tan? Does he manufacture them himself? Whats the
quality like?

hi tim.
al imports robbins top i think.
he used to buy them from the NZ distributor - but now uses such a quantity
that he's bringing them in himself - thus the glass non-zip roof only being
$150 or so more than the standard one (from memory)
i'm sure he can get tan - but you'd need to talk to him.
sorry if i sound like an employee - but the new roof makes my car so much
better - i'm sure i'll calm down in a few months...

Call Al Tim. I believe he gets Robbin's tops. He installed mine.

Once he receives the top from his distributor, he will have the old one
out and the new one installed before you finish a cup of coffee! He's so
experienced at it I wouldn't be surprised if he could do it with his
eyes closed!

Also I was tempted to go with the glass, but I must say I concur with
the view of being able to have the top up but the plastic window down
for great ventilation as well as the plastic being larger in size and
thus wider rear range visibility.
